Bajaj Auto to invest Rs 300 Cr in bike retailing

Bajaj Auto Limited would invest Rs 300 crore for showroom retailing of premium bikes across the country by March 2008, a company official said. The company was in the process of rolling out Probiking Showrooms at different locations in the country, Bajaj Auto Vice President K Srinivas said.


Srinivas said Probiking Showrooms would be owned by the company and would only sell premium bikes in the 200 CC category. He said the company would open 55 such showrooms across the country by March 2008. At present, the company has six Probiking Showrooms.
Srinivas said currently, the company was selling 3500 units of premium bikes per month.

He said the target was to double that, for which such high-end retail showrooms were being put up. Overall sales of the company was two lakh units per month, Srinivas said, adding that all-India market share was 34 per cent. The eastern region contributed 10 per cent of overall turnover of the company.
